Welcome to the website of Lubbock's Troop 505

We are glad you're here!

Scouting can be a terrific influence on a young man's life.  With personal fitness, character development and citizenship training as it's core aims, scouting provides the structure and the environment to help young men prepare for life.  The methods we use to achieve these aims are found in our Ideals, Patrols, Outdoor Program, Advancement, Association with Adults, Personal Growth, Leadership Development, and our Uniform.

If you are looking for a troop home or would just like to learn more about scouting, we would be happy to see you visit during one of our troop meetings.

We meet Monday evenings at 7pm in the Family Ministry Center of LakeRidge United Methodist Church located on 83rd street between Toledo and Salem in the great city of Lubbock, Texas.

We hope to see you return for updates as we build and add new information to our  website.

Troop Update - Aug 23, 2009

Posted on Sep 30 2009 - 8:42pm

Following speeches for SPL, Troop and Patrol elections were held in lieu of skills instruction, followed by some free time. During which time, appointments were made for the various leadership positions. Troop voted to move the Court of Honor back one week to Oct. 12, and to move the Palo Duro Campout up one week to Oct. 9 - 11. WE STILL NEED AN ADULT COORDINATOR FOR THE CAMPOUT (or at least two more adults to go along with Mr. Goode). Also need boys to sign up for the campout - TLT will be held during the campout all boy leaders have to complete.

Elections for SPL and Patrol Leaders are next Monday. If you intend to run for either position, you must have a Leader Application filled out and turned in to Mr. Goode by Monday night. Mr. Goode will be at the church around 6:30 Monday night, you may turn in applications between 6:30 and 7:00. Those running must also have a speech prepared to deliver either to the troop or to their patrol during patrol corners. Those wanting to be considered for another troop leadership position must also complete an application to be turned in to our new SPL.

Thanks to Mr. Forsberg for setting up a guest presentation on tobacco, alcohol, and drug abuse. Remember, none of these is less harmaful than another.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course. A horse, dogs, one cat, and a bird (not necessarily on the order of the food chain) joined us for a pet show. Thanks to all who shared their pets with us.

Ms. Monje and the boys finished up the Chemistry MB by somehow floating a packet of ketchup in a three liter bottle of water. Capture the Flag ensued afterwards.

Troop Update, Aug. 10, 2009

Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble! Most of the troop started the Chemistry Merit Badge last night, with Ms. Monje as instructor. No explosions, building still stands, great job and it looked like a lot of fun. Remember – we do not make napalm at home, school, in the neighborhood, anywhere else.
