Welcome to the website of Lubbock's Troop 505

We are glad you're here!

Scouting can be a terrific influence on a young man's life.  With personal fitness, character development and citizenship training as it's core aims, scouting provides the structure and the environment to help young men prepare for life.  The methods we use to achieve these aims are found in our Ideals, Patrols, Outdoor Program, Advancement, Association with Adults, Personal Growth, Leadership Development, and our Uniform.

If you are looking for a troop home or would just like to learn more about scouting, we would be happy to see you visit during one of our troop meetings.

We meet Monday evenings at 7pm in the Family Ministry Center of LakeRidge United Methodist Church located on 83rd street between Toledo and Salem in the great city of Lubbock, Texas.

We hope to see you return for updates as we build and add new information to our  website.

Troop Update 119-09

Posted on Nov 11 2009 - 5:08pm

Given a moving devotional and prayer, short adult announcements, speeches for Communication and Public Speaking, a great Skills Instruction on being thrifty and creative with food for campouts, and a rousing game of Red Rover, Monday's meeting was exceptional. Let's keep it up.

Troop Update - Nov. 2, 2009

Posted on Nov 4 2009 - 8:42pm

Fires and visitors galore as the 2nd year Webelo's from Pack 151 joined us, along with one other visitor who is probably going to transfer into our Troop. After a speech on the different UIL levels of high schools (and a little gloating by MHS Scouts at the expense of LHS scouts), skills and interpatrol focused on fire building. Nothing quite like boys and fires! No napalm necessary last Monday.

Troop Update 10-26-09

Blood! Broken Arms! No not the results of dodge ball or football, but Scouts working on First Class Emphasis skills. A “Walking Tall” style weapon – found in the trailer as those not working on First Class skills did some house cleaning so Ricky can build some new shelves for the front of the trailer. Now Chris gets to determine what to keep and what to throw away. Good luck! Both followed by a game of Ultimate Frisbee. Almost forgot, Patrick filled us in on the wonderful world of pandas.

Stab! Cut! Carve! Jack-O-Lanterns galore, 15 to me exact, appeared at Lakeridge Monday. Thanks to everyone for joining in, including the adults who lent a hand to help carve, and to patch up one wound. Knife safety will be addressed soon during skills instruction. I also hear there is another swimming around, hope we get to see that one.

Our Fall Court of Honor was Monday night. Special thanks to Ms. Monje for Coordinating, all the adults that helped to set up the meeting room for our social time, Ricky for operating the technology, and to Preston, Chris, Josh, and Jarred for presenting the various recognitions and advancements.

Troop Update 10-5-09

Skills were spent, by some patrols, inventorying chuck boxes. Kudos to the Raccoons for really going through everything in their chuck box and making a complete list of needs, that was then turned in to the Quartermaster. Interpatrol was Indoor Soccer, followed by Octopus tag.
