We need to close off the BTSR campout next Monday so we can have final numbers to give to the ranger at BTSR. If you are thinking of attending, we need you to sign up by next Monday night March 29, 2010. If you are doing wilderness survival the cost will be 25 dollars. If you are doing horsemanship, the cost will be 57 dollars. You need to pay for this in advance of the campout and it would be great if you could do so next Monday.

LEXINGTON TRIP - arrive at churh by 7:00 Fraiday morning to pack, be assigned drivers, etc. We will not be taking the trailer, so please pack light. Bring the following: clothes, tent, sleeping bag & pad, spending money (4 meals, snacks, souvenirs), flashlight. We travel in Class A uniform, change to t-shirts, jeans, etc. when we arrive at camp. There will be other troops at the Lexington, so be on your best behavior. New Scouts - you may do a Scoutmaster conference on the trip, Mr. Laing is acting Scoutmaster; you may not bring a knife with you unless you have already earned the Boy Scout totin chip. Troop should arrive back at church Sunday night between 9:00 and 10:00. As of Monday we had 2 available slots. If you have planned to go and have not paid or talked to Mr. Laing, please call him or Mr. Goode ASAP.

We are out of chairs! Nice problem to have as we welcomed our 5 newest Scouts Monday night. Eagle patrol is bulging at the seams.

Ceta Campout - prepare for cold weather. Forecast is now for temperatures ranging from a low in the high 20's Friday night to a high in the mid 50's Saturday. Possible snow or rain on Sunday. Be prepared with cold and wet weather gear. New scouts who are coming, a sleeping pad to go under your sleeping bag is a must. Remember that we do have winter weight bags in the trailer that you can use.

Long time Scout, Scout Leader, and member of Troop 505 John Rogers passed away earlier this week. Funeral arrangements are pending; Troop 505 will offer to act as pallbearers for the services. If our services as pall bearers are not needed, please consider attending the services in uniform as recognition of Mr. Rogers many years of service to Troop 505 and the South Plains Council. We will keep you informed as to details.

Mardi Gras may have come soon for the New Orleans Saints, for Troop 505 we get to join the festivities later at the Lubbock Mardi Gras fund raiser for Meals on Wheels. If you have signed up for a shift, please make sure to honor your commitment for this great cause. You’ll have fun, get credit for service hours, eat some great food, and have fun.
