Welcome to the website of Lubbock's Troop 505

We are glad you're here!

Scouting can be a terrific influence on a young man's life.  With personal fitness, character development and citizenship training as it's core aims, scouting provides the structure and the environment to help young men prepare for life.  The methods we use to achieve these aims are found in our Ideals, Patrols, Outdoor Program, Advancement, Association with Adults, Personal Growth, Leadership Development, and our Uniform.

If you are looking for a troop home or would just like to learn more about scouting, we would be happy to see you visit during one of our troop meetings.

We meet Monday evenings at 7pm in the Family Ministry Center of LakeRidge United Methodist Church located on 83rd street between Toledo and Salem in the great city of Lubbock, Texas.

We hope to see you return for updates as we build and add new information to our  website.

Good meeting Monday - Skills instruction on airplane safety, complete with a propeler blade; and a presentation on Memorial Day and what it stands for and symbolizes. Remember to display your flag next Monday in remembrance of those men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. No news on helping to put out flags at the cemetaries on Monday.

Friends Of Scouting - if you missed Robert Causer's presentation, FOS is Scoutings major fund raising effort. Your son should have brought home a brochure detailing FOS and what the funds raise enable the Council to do - improvements to the three Council Camps, support after school packs, provide training for adult leaders, support Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Ventures in general. Please complete the pledge card or make a one time donation of any amount to support Scouting in our community.

Heard that I missed a good meeting and a good PLC review. Mr. Golden and Mr. Jackson finished up the First Aid Merit Badge, followed by an "at large" interpatrol. Thanks to Kenneth for setting up by himself. And to those who filled in for the Cobras for the Opening. PLC discussed the need for more planning and organization, including arriving a few minutes before the meeting starts so scouts and adults are not walking in during the Opening. Also discussed the need for some new games for interpatrol (wonder where those can be found?).
